Genevieve D. Glander

(Nee Ponick) Found peace Sunday August 30, 2015, age 85. Beloved Wife of the late Erwin for 67 years. Dear Mother of Erwin C., the late Larry (Helen), Greg (Sandy) Glander and Lori (Steve) Slicker. Loving Grandmother of Kim (Josh) Hansen, Melissa (Anthony) Dávila, Mark (Sam) Glander, Chris Bonilla, Katie (Nick) Huss, Andrea (Nate) Hererra, and Aaron Glander. Beloved Great Grandmother of Dante Hansen, Emilio Dávila, Dean Glander, Emily Huss, and Felix Hererra. Will also be deeply missed by other family and friends.

Genevieve was born on December 3rd, 1929 to Charles and Lucille Ponick in Stanley, WI. She was raised and worked on the family farm, along with 4 brothers and 3 sisters, up until her graduation from high school. Genevieve moved to Milwaukee for work and met Erwin at a dance hall, right after his return from serving in the Army in World War ll. They later married on December 11th, 1947 in Milwaukee, and soon after, returned to Stanley to run two farms in the area for the next 7 years. They moved to West Allis in 1954, and then to New Berlin in 1962, where they lived for 53 years. Genevieve was a homemaker and worked at various jobs during these years, incuding: school nurse, cashier at Turcks (30 yrs), Kmart (10 yrs) and Wal-Mart (8 yrs) when she retired at the age of 80.

The family of Genevieve Glander would like to sincerely thank all of the nurses, aides and staff at Brookfield Rehabilitation & Specialty Care for their wonderful loving care of our mother.

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Tuesday, September 8th, 2015, 4:00 PM – 6:45 PM. Funeral Service 7:00 PM. Private interment Highland Memorial Park.
