Gary James Metz, a beloved resident of West Bend, Wisconsin, and native of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 79. Born on July 21, 1944, Gary led a life filled with warmth and kindness.

Gary was a man of quiet grace, whose gentle demeanor belied a deep passion for connecting with others. His sociable nature found joy in conversations, where he eagerly shared his thoughts on sports, the ever-evolving landscape of business, and the latest advancements in technology. His enthusiasm for these subjects was contagious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to engage in dialogue with him.

Family was paramount to Gary. He found immense pride and joy in being a devoted husband to his late wife, Vicki, and a loving father to his daughters: Bonny (Mark) Ryan, Jennifer (Michael) Wallner, and Heather (Ryan) Duffey. Gary’s love extended to his grandchildren: Benjamin and Zoe Ryan, and Elly and Graham Duffey, whom he cherished dearly.

He also leaves behind sisters Marcia Harth and Diane Metz, as well as other cherished relatives and friends. Gary’s presence was felt within the Cedar Community in West Bend, where he resided, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His absence will be deeply felt by his community, as his kindness and amiable nature brightened the lives of those around him.

In his passing, Gary is reunited with his beloved wife, Vicki, and his parents, Bernard and Phyllis Metz, finding peace in their embrace once more. While Gary’s physical presence may no longer grace this world, his spirit and the impact of his genuine kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.

Memorial service to honor Gary’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive in Brookfield, with a visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:45  AM.  Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
