Floraine Ardis Meser, “Ardy”

89, of Brookfield passed away on September 10, 2013 at Alexian Village in Milwaukee.

Ardy was born August 28, 1924 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the daughter of Simon and Etta (Wills) Wehrwein. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc and continued her studies at what is now the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee. She married Harold Meser, also of Manitowoc, on September 19, 1942 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, Wisconsin.

She worked as an on-air personality at WOMT radio in Manitowoc under the stage name Ann Jordan, before moving with Harold in 1946 to Wayside, Wisconsin to manage a grocery store there. She also worked with Harold for a short time at Wayside State Bank before the couple moved to Green Lake in 1961, where Ardy worked as a floral designer and as a librarian at the Green Lake Public Library. In 1992, Harold and Ardy moved to Brookfield.

Wherever she lived, Ardy shared her gift of music, starting at age 13, singing in the local church choir with her mother. She went on to solo and choir work at Zion Lutheran Church in Wayside, Peace Lutheran Church in Green Lake, and Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Brookfield. She was also an avid reader and very active in local volunteer work.

She is survived by her sons, Gregg (Barbara) of Menomonie, WI, and Jeff (Retta) of Brookfield, daughter Lane (Gary) Mudra of Bayside, grandchildren John (Tracy) Meser of Elm Grove, Charles (Amanda) Meser of Portland, OR, Ann (Daniel) Gianola of Philadephia, PA, Leigh (Edward) Engesether of Blaine, MN, Mark (Crystal) Meser of Boyceville, WI, Anthony (Katharine) Mudra of Stavanger, Norway, and Benjamin Mudra of Memphis, TN, along with six great-grandchildren, Jack, Andy, Bill, Ian, McKenzie and Else. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, brother Harlan, and grandson Aaron Meser.

Funeral Services will be held at CHRIST THE LORD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1650 North Brookfield Road, Brookfield, WI on Monday, September 16 at 11:00 AM, preceded by visitation at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be at the Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake, WI on Tuesday, September 17 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society or Arthritis Foundation are suggested.
