Passed peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, May 14, 2014, age 93. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and dance partner, Elizabeth as well as his brothers and sisters. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elmer married Elizabeth "Betty" on September 20, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He and Betty loved ballroom dancing and during the 1950's and 1960's they did most of their dancing at The Roof, George Devine's Eagle's Club and at Green Lake where he owned a cottage for many years and developed many friendships there. It was at Green Lake where he drove a wooden Chris-Craft speedboat. In later years he took up golf with his neighbor "The Fireman". He worked various jobs, Butters-Fetting Company, Inc., among others. He also drove a cement truck and had his hands in much of the construction around Milwaukee. He was a self-made "computer expert". He loved to gamble, especially at Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk and Oneida. He knew where the off-road betting parlors were. He also enjoyed horse and harness racing at Arlington International Racecourse and Hawthorne Race Course.
There will be a visitation at our Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, on Saturday, May 24, from 10:00-11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM with Military Honors. A private entombment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park at a later date.
