Cherished "Unk" of Linda (Majid Siadat) Heiden, Patti (Mike) Hemric, the late Jim (Jeannie) Heiden, Bob (Laurie) Kerslake, Carol (Kink) Morrison, Hal (Gloria) and Craig (Debbie) Mullison and Cherie Horvath. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Ed proudly served his country both on active duty during WWII and in the reserves – retiring in 1979 as a Lt. Colonel-USAF. He graduated from Shorewood High School in 1937. He furthered his education at Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1939 as Valedictorian and Class President. He served in the capacity of Funeral Director and Embalmer at various funeral homes in the Milwaukee area for four years until WWII intervened. After the war he graduated from Marquette University in 1950 with a BS in Business Administration. While a student at Marquette, he was also Dean and Instructor at the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. Beginning in 1950, he followed in his father's footsteps as a salesman with the H.D. Lee Company. Ed returned to the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in 1965 as Dean and Instructor. After 1969 he was self-employed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. In 1971 he joined the Funeral Service faculty at the Milwaukee Area Technical College and retired in 1985. He earned his Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision in 1974 from UWM. Over the span of his career he served as the President and Vice-President of the MATC teachers union Local 212 WFT, AFT, AFLCIO, was a long time Shorewood Village Trustee, was the Parliamentarian and a member of the Accreditation Committee for the American Board of Funeral Service Education and served as President and Vice-President for the University Mortuary Science Education Association. Visitation at the Funeral Home Friday, July 9, 2010, from 4:00-8:00PM with a time for sharing your memories at 7:00 PM. Visitation also at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Chimes Saturday July 10, 2010, at 10:00 AM. Worship Service in the Chapel of the Chimes at 11:00 AM with burial to follow. Memorials appreciated to the Edward L. Heidenreich Funeral Service Restorative Art Award at Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Bob Daniel Foundation, the American Cancer Society or the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
