Passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009, age 82 Loving husband of Dorothy (nee Sukanen). Devoted father of Kristi and Mark Kittleson. Passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009, age 82 Loving husband of Dorothy (nee Sukanen). Devoted father of Kristi and Mark Kittleson. Also survived by his sister Shirley (James) Murphy and their children Joanne, Robert, Ronald and Mary.Born in Milwaukee 1927 and was a long standing member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Served in the Armed Forces in World War II. Graduate of the Layton School of Art (BFA-1956), University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (BS-1957, MS-1961).Taught at Menomonee Falls High School (1957-1992). He was also an adjunct at UW-Milwaukee, MATC, Carroll College, Mount Mary College, Peninsula Art School, and the Saugatuck, MI, Summer School of Painting.His etchings and paintings have been exhibited widely since 1961 and were featured in 28 one person shows and numerous group shows. His award winning art is represented in many corporate collections, including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Kohler corporation, Quad Graphics, Miller Brewing Company, and Johnson Controls. And also in collections at the Milwaukee Art Museum; the Universitites' of Wisconsin – Madison, Green Bay and La Crosse; the Wustum Museum in Racine and in numerous private collections in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. One of his many awards include the prestigious Skyledge Prize at the 1994 Exhibition of the Midwest Watercolor Society at the Neville Museum, Green Bay, WI. His National Exhibition schedule included Northwest Printmakers, California Society of Etchers, Boston Printmakers, Brooklyn Museum Biennial and the Library of Congress. His watercolors have been shown regularly in Watercolor Wisconsin at the Wustum Museum, Racine and at several Wustum Invitational exhibitions, Kohler Art Museum theme shows, Sheboygan, and in Wisconsin Watercolor Society and Milwaukee Area Teachers of Art shows among numerous others.For many years after retirement from teaching, Earl was involved as a volunteer at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend and previously as a Print Room Assistant to the Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Earl was an active and passionate participant for many years in various organizations including Sons of Norway and Brown Deer's Fourth of July Parade.Visitation at KRAUSE FUNERAL HOME, 7001 W.
