Died peacefully on June 8, 2010. He was the beloved husband to the late Helen Karen (nee Gregor), and loving father to daughter, Darlene Karen of Irvine, CA. Brother to Lou (Sharon) Karen of Angwin, CA, and Ruth (David) Klotz of Caledonia, along with many nieces, nephews and beloved godchildren. Everyone who met Dr. Karen will remember his twinkling blue eyes, gracious nature, and generous heart; he was a true gentleman. His life teaches us that dreams do come true. As a young boy in his hometown of Yissinia, Greece "Doctor" always dreamt about becoming a physician and caring for others. This dream was realized when he moved to America, graduated from Marquette Medical School, and practiced medicine in Milwaukee for over 55 years. The people he cared for benefited from his holistic view of medicine and his healing touch. Throughout his life he continued to expand his medical knowledge, constantly seeking new and innovative ways to treat the people he cared for so much. In turn, he was loved for his gentleness, kindness, and caring.Dr. Karen traveled and explored the world with his beloved and beautiful wife Helen, and his daughter to whom he was clearly devoted. He was dedicated to his family, his Macedonian heritage, and his Orthodox faith. Visitation will be held at ANNUNCIATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 92nd and Congress on Wednesday June 16, 10-10:30AM. Funeral Service 10:30AM. Rev. Father James Dokos officiating. Entombment will be at the Wisconsin Memorial.
