Doris Daisy Pruitt

Died peacefully Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove, Wisconsin, at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by Louis Pruitt, her loving husband of 62 years.

Doris was born August 18, 1926, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Jacobs) Michels. Doris and Louis were married in 1946 and settled in West Allis, Wisconsin. There they raised six children, while she worked full-time outside the home, ultimately retiring after 25 years at JC Penney. Doris loved her family, hosting many family gatherings and attending countless school plays, concerts, graduations, birthday and anniversary parties over the years. She had a zest for life, and loved to travel with family and friends.

Survivors include five sons and one daughter, Gary (Kathy) of Plymouth, Patricia Moss (Robert) of Caledonia, Randall (Rose) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Douglas (Jeanine) of West Allis, Timothy (Diane) of Racine, and James (Mary Beth) of Racine; twelve grandchildren, Nathan (Becky), Amy (Bryan), Christopher (Louisa), Hannah (Miles), Collin (Nora), Christine, Tracy, Lauren, Jacqueline, Benjamin, Abby, and Samantha; eleven great grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Diane (Ralph) Horning.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on December 27, 2013 at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin, with Rev. Rose Pruitt officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a children's charity of your choice.
