Age 74, peacefully entered eternal life on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Proud father of Kristin (Patrick Nana-Sinkam), Eric (Carrie Krug) and Colleen (Willie) Hayes. Loving grandfather of Isabella, Addison and Josephina Trost, Tré and Jackson Hayes, and Marques Nana-Sinkam. He will be missed dearly by brothers Douglas (Janice) and Randall (Delia), cherished nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Don will forever have a special place in the heart of very dear friend, dinner and dancing partner, and devoted caregiver Joycelyn Roth. He was previously married to Mary (Zagzebski) Heale for 25 years. He was preceded in death by mother Lorraine (Rusch) and father Herbert, Godmother Alverna (Rusch) Busack, and grand-niece Ainsley Amelia Lorraine Trost.
Don was born in Milwaukee and lived in Pewaukee since 1974. A graduate of Boys Technology and Trade School, he attended UW-Milwaukee and graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College. He completed Air Force basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and was a reservist. He held process and quality engineering positions, most notably with Waukesha Engine Division, Dresser Industries. He possessed a keen mathematical mind and valued education, and was always willing to support his own children and others' with challenging math problems and beyond. Don was for many years a member of an investment club and enjoyed following the stock market. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers; rock and roll, pop and jazz music of the 50's, 60's and 70's; and performing maintenance on his cars, fixing things around his home, and otherwise putting his design and engineering skills to use. Don had a great sense of humor with a wise-cracking wit and a hearty laugh (he finally slipped on that banana peel, as he would have said with a wink and a smile). He possessed a kind and gentle heart and a protectiveness of and devotion to those he loved. He will be missed and remembered for the good times.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Autumn Bay of Pewaukee and the dedicated and compassionate nurses and staff of ProHealth Home Care and Hospice.
