Donald Herman Zimmerman

Was born to eternal life on March 16, 2015 at age 90 years. Son of the late Frederick J. Zimmerman and Dorothea Zimmerman (nee Brohn), he was born on May 1st and baptized June 29, 1924. He was confirmed in the faith March 21st, 1937 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Flint, MI. His wife of 66 years Emily (nee Becker) and he were married June 16th 1946, and are parents to Lois (Maynard) Kruse, Eileen (John) Draper, Leanne (David) Ross, Donald (Darlene) Zimmerman, Judith (Keith) Lauber, and Janice (Steve) Georgson, Grandparents to 25, and Great-grandparents to 32. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Carol Zimmerman, as well as sisters-in-law Ivlo Zimmerman, Laurena Mau, Ila Becker, and Jane Becker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Frederick and sister Ethel Frey.

Donald was in the ministry of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod his entire career. He was principal, teacher, Sunday School Administrator and organist for congregations in Marinette, WI (1946-47), Sebewaing, MI (1947-49), Adrian, MI (1949-59), Monroe, MI (1959-64), Stevensville, MI (1964-76). He was the Executive Secretary for the Board for Parish Education in Milwaukee, WI from 1976 until his retirement in 1990. Donald spent many hours of volunteer service for his church, Risen Savior Lutheran, Milwaukee, WI.

Visitation will be at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 9550 West Brown Deer Road, Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 AM until time of Service at 11:30 AM. Private entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers memorials appreciated to Risen Savior Endowment Fund or the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
