Susie asked for stories, so here is one our favorites. Donnie and Susie introduced our family to camping, although I think the first couple of years that we started going to Camp Holiday they wished they hadn’t. They always knew when we reached a certain point in the trip up because it would start to rain. But Donnie (and Susie) always kept their humor and just joked about it. Donnie was soft spoken, calm, and unflappable. Early mornings were the adult time to go fishing and one morning Oral and I were in our boat and Donnie and Susie were in their boat and we were fishing Milwaukee Bay on Crab Lake when we all heard a big splash and saw something swimming. As this “thing” approached the boats and swam between them, we called over to Don and Suz and asked what it was. Oral and I thought it was a big dog, but Donnie, very calmly says “bear” and proceeded to cast his line on the other side of the boat and keep fishing. It was a good thing neither Don or Suz caught a fish at the particular moment or they might have had another body in theirs. That is just one of the many wonderful and cherished memories we have of Donnie. Thank you, Unke Donnie for helping to instill a love of fishing, camping, and bowling in our kids and being a strong influence on them. We may not be able to do any of those things with you any longer, but you will always be in our hearts and the laughter will never be far away as we remember our time with you.

Susie . . . we are so sorry to hear of Don's passing. While we didn't cross paths often, we enjoyed our time together when we did. Xander was very fortunate to have you and Don as grandparents. . . you both are wonderful. Prayers for comfort and strength during this difficult time and many wishes that your lifetime of memories with Don will make you smile and remember all the love. Heaven, no doubt, has opened the door to admit another golfing angel! Much love . . . Stacey and Marty Henne, Suzette's sister and brother-in-law.
