Donald J. Wiedenheft, 81, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, passed away on November 13, 2022.
Beloved husband of Tica Wiedenheft (née Gross). Loving father of George (Yolanda) Patterson, Renessa (Steven) Wright, Jenna (Monty) Miller, Tony (Lorisa) Wiedenheft, and Wynne (Gavin) Avellanet. Devoted grandpa to Parker, Kesha, Marcel, Joshua, Chloe, Jaylin, Carter, Xander, Noah, and Aiden. Caring great grandpa of Samiyah, Hala, and Demi. He is also survived by his sisters, Dyan (Bob) Armstrong and Dona (Fred) Siepert, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Corrie Wiedenheft (née Peardon).
Born in Whitewater, Don grew up in East Troy, where he attended and excelled in academics and sports at East Troy High School. He played the trumpet in the band, and frequently played “Taps” as the official bugler for many local military funerals. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering. He later received a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago.
Though a soft-spoken man, Don was incredibly active his entire life, in both business and recreation. He served as an executive at Allis-Chalmers, Fiat-Allis and Cooper Power Systems before serving as Vice President of custom machinery design (CMD), where he worked until his retirement.
Don loved to travel the world! His adventures took him to Paris, Spain, Canada, Germany, London, Mexico and Australia. Over the years, he and Tica were involved in several social organizations, including the NAACP. When he was home, Don enjoyed many passions, including golfing, hunting, fishing, painting and reading. He never lost his love for musical instruments and enjoyed Thursday night card games with friends. Don was also an avid stamp collector, with a collection that was second to none. In between his many hobbies, he also found time to support Wisconsin sports, especially the Packers and Badgers. Don wasted no time being idle. Sadly, he passed away suddenly on November 13.
