Diane K. Schmelzer

Entered into Eternal Life at 66 years old on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 – five years to the day after her father. Beloved wife and best friend to Dean for 40 years. Proud mother to Erica (Erik) Zipp and Lindsey (Benjamin) Haischer. Superstar grandma to Mallory, Gunnar and Bode Zipp, Ella and Elizabeth Haischer. Cherished daughter to Betty and the late Donald Soe and sister to Gail Soe, Eric (Kim) Soe, and Kirk (Teresa) Soe. Adored daughter-in-law to Elizabeth and the late Louis Schmelzer and sister-in-law to Sherry (Scott) Reese and the late Daniel (Stacy) Schmelzer. Loved by a niece, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Gathering at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1750 North Calhoun Road Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Saturday, July 10, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral service to begin at 12:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Diane was filled with joy and always generous with her kindness and time. Her love of life and enjoyment of the people around her radiated when she walked in the room, onto the golf course, tennis court, or a ski slope. She loved being a grandma, traveling with family and friends, and finding ways to make a positive impact in others’ lives.

Her charity work spanned her lifetime. From causes close to her heart or important to those around her, Diane worked tirelessly to help anyone in need.

Diane was a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota and adored animals, especially her maltese Harley. She loved the Green Bay Packers, watching her daughters and grandchildren compete in athletics and golfing with Dean and her friends. She also loved to attend Broadway plays and concerts. Diane was proud of her Danish heritage and had the opportunity to visit Denmark. She also enjoyed shopping locally to support her community’s small business owners.

Diane dealt with Moyamoya Disease for eight years but did not let it define her. While her death was sudden, she had courageously battled the disease head-on with two brain blood vessel bypasses and a shunt. She was an advocate for medical advancements to aid in early detection and gene identification of Moyamoya.

Gone far too soon, Diane will be missed every day. Her grace, love, and kind spirit will live on through the many people her life has touched.
