I am so appreciative of the memories and moments that I have with Aunt Della. She was and will always be my special version of a grandmother. Having never met any grandparents on either side of my family, I became to relish my memories of the summers spent in Rockford with Aunt Della as time spent with my grandmother-figure. Lots of times, it would be me, Aunt Della and Mrs. Earnestine driving to different places around Rockford or driving me back to Joliet. I always looked forward to spending weeks in the summer with my Aunt Della. Aunt Della and I would read books and drink tea. We would have hot tea in the evenings before bed. And to this day during the summers, I brew suntea because of Aunt Della. She was at EVERY celebration I had from elementary school to college and beyond! She would share the same stories over and over again of me and her in Rockford (like the time I sang under my breath about her and Mrs. Earnestine ignoring me and not paying me any attention)). . And now I am so glad she repeated those same stories because they bring me comfort during this time. I pray that Aunt Della knows that I love her and that she meant a lot to me. Our relationship was special and I hope she felt the same. Now when I pray to God, I know that not only is Jesus interceding on my behalf, but Aunt Della is also in heaven advocating for me. I will see you again, Aunt Della. And I love you (very much).
