David Mark Tacke, 68, of Brown Deer, WI, died on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
Born in Milwaukee on May 5, 1954, David was the son of the late Arthur W. Tacke, M.D. and the late Roberta Hines Tacke. David was baptized by his Grandfather, the Rev. Arthur B. Tacke at Zebaoth Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He received his high school diploma in 1972 from University School of Milwaukee where he was on the wrestling team. He earned a B.A. in History from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1976 and an M.S. in Computer Science from Cardinal Stritch University in 1993.
David was the owner of DMT Software Services LLC. In his spare time, he was active in numerous groups and organizations, including Mensa, Wisconsin Business Owners, SF1 Science Fiction Book Club, Wisconsin politics, and Toastmasters—of which he would have been a member for 30 years on April 1, 2023. In recent years, he became an Esperanto enthusiast, attending the Universala Kongreso en Montrealo this past August. As a result, friends and family became accustomed to being greeted by David with “saluton” or “bonan matenon.” He was also studying the Ukrainian language in the hopes of giving help and comfort to Ukrainian immigrants.
David was a beloved member of Christ Alone Evangelical Lutheran Church and lived out his faith in service and kindness toward others.
Special thanks to the staff of Eastcastle Place and of Horizon Hospice Care in Milwaukee and to the numerous, caring friends who gave the gifts of their time and presence during David’s short illness.
David is survived by his sister Margret (Bob) Collins, niece Rylie Collins, uncle William (Mae) Tacke, numerous cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the north campus of Christ Alone Church, 247 South Main Street, Thiensville, Wisconsin. The memorial service will be held from 12:00 PM – 12:45 PM, with a fellowship luncheon afterward.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s name to Christ Alone Church or to the Glioblastoma (GBM) Translational Center of Excellence Gift Fund at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center would be appreciated by the family. If you are donating online, please inform the family so that you can be thanked!
