Age 87 of Milwaukee, passed away, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Wheaton Francisan – St. Francis Health Center in Milwaukee following a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Charlotte (nee Young) Ryan. Further survived by daughters Suzee Willis, Kathleen (Ron) Turmelle, Debra (Bruce) Johnson, son Scott (Michelle) Ryan; 10 grandchildren; Gary (Michelle) Johnson, Bruce (Nicole) Johnson, Tracey (Paolo) Troccoli, Tammie (Shawn) Clendenning, Tiffany (Rodney) Richter, Michael Ryan, Christopher Ryan (Brandi Lautenschlager), Scott Ryan, Megan Ryan (Ryan Heiges), Daniel (Nicole) Janke, and Zachary (Emily) Turmelle; 15 great-grandchilren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, his close friend George Kloppenburg, and many other close friends. Dale was preceded in death by his mother Bessie Ryan, in-laws Laverne and Edna Young, and his sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Martin Hoff. Dale was a lifelong resident of Milwaukee. In 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1949. After serving his Country in the Navy, Dale continued serving others by joining the Milwaukee Police Department in 1953. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1964. He took great pride in his service to his country, the citizens of Milwaukee, and truly cherished the many friends he made during his 40+ years with the Milwaukee Police Department where he was respected as a valued and trusted leader. “Dispatch…Squad 3 is now 10-7”
Gathering at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin, Sunday, September 18, 12:00PM-2:45PM. Memorial Service at 3:00PM. Private interment Wisconsin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers Dale’s family requests memorials in Sergeant Ryan’s name be made to the Milwaukee Police Retirees Association.
