Cassandra Baber was born Cassandra Cabrini Johnson on January 28, 1947, to the union of Earl and Dorothy Johnson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the eldest of eleven children.
Cassandra received her formal education at Messmer High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating high school in 1965, Cassandra enlisted into the United States Army on February 1, 1966. Her basic training took place in Alabama. Shortly after completion, she was transported to attend nursing training in Ft. San Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Cassandra served as a nurse in Bad Cannstatt, Stuttgart Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Cassandra was united in holy matrimony with Alvin Baber on January 18, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan. Their union was blessed with six children.
Cassandra dedicated her life as a servant of Jehovah, and symbolized her dedication by baptism in May 1971, at the Circuit Assembly in Detroit, Michigan.
She was employed by Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) as a Teacher’s Aide from 1988, until she retired in 2006. Following her career at MPS, Cassandra served as a Fulltime Pioneer graciously sharing the good news of Jehovah’s Kingdom.
In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time with family members, embracing and socializing with friends, smelling flowers, dancing, singing, as well as teaching and preaching to people about the bible.
Cassandra Baber departed this life on October 17, 2016. She was proceeded in death by her Grandmother, Pearl (Nanny) Collins; three brothers: Earl Toby Johnson, Eric Benjamin Johnson, and Elliott Duffy Johnson; and twin grandsons, Leo Benjamin Baber II & III.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Alvin Baber; her six children: Elgin Tony Baber (Britannica), Tonya Marie Baber, Lisa Naomi Rhymes (Phil), Leo Benjamin Baber, Lydia Jacqueline Baber, and Tamika Lashon Daniels (Tyrone); siblings: Victor Johnson (Brenda), Jeffrey Johnson (Francis), Camille Lang (Nick), Rozalia Harris (Wendell), Denise Rogers (Derrick), Nina Cox, Teresa Kontney; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, friends and spiritual family.
A Gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 26, at 1:00 PM at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness, 6636 North Appleton Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53216.
