Jim Marlin Sr. August 6, 2025 I know that at times like this, words always fall short. I just hope it is some small comfort to you to know others are keeping good thoughts for your family. And remember the great times we had rooting for our boys playing baseball. …. Jim & Pam Marlin
Jeannie Davies for Scott Summerville left a message on August 20, 2025:
Scott Summerville August 6, 2025 I first met Brent when he was 6 years old. His family had just moved in next door. Little did I know that this was the beginning of a 30-year friendship that transcended us moving to Asia and then to Chicago. My wife recounts the first time she saw Brent. Our Lhasa Apso, Fenway, was on a leash that just had enough length to allow him to get to the lot line. Loren used this as an opportunity to get Brent comfortable with dogs however Fenway wasn’t having it and promptly nipped at Brent’s red mittens and removed them both without any injury to his hands. My wife remembers Brent’s wide eyes like it was yesterday. Brent ended up loving Fenway and the dogs that he and his family had over the years. We followed Brent as he grew and matured. I’m a huge baseball fan and I remember going to several of his games in high school. Being proud of Brent applied to sports and business but most importantly, the type of person he was. As a high school graduation gift we invited Brent and his parents to come to China where we were living at the time (Allison had come a few years before). I especially remember the visit to the Lao She Tea House in Bejing. Brent volunteered to go on stage to assist a magician. It’s too complicated to explain the mechanics here but we laughed uncontrollably, and Brent was a great sport as usual. I was especially impressed with Brent’s career and felt that he had the temperament to be a senior executive. We talked about his career numerous times. Brent always found the time to join the rest of the family when we came north to visit. He was the kind of person that enjoyed socializing with his parent’s friends, something that I believe spoke to his character. Regarding socializing with your parent’s friends the last time I saw Brent about a year ago was under those circumstances. Another friend came to visit us in Chicago and we decided to go to American Family Field to watch the Cubs play the Brewers. Loren couldn’t go but he suggested I reach out to Brent. Without hesitation, Brent said he wanted to go and we had a great time. I will dearly miss Brent, the person he had become and the person he was yet to become. He leaves both a hole in our hearts but yet a legacy that I will remember and cherish until I leave this earth. Rest in Peace dear friend.
