78, resident of Mequon, passed away August 17, 2013. Betty was a native Gastonia, NC, and received her nurse's training there. As a nurse, she worked a multitude of jobs, including psychiatric wards, emergency rooms, surgery, industrial clinic, a Red Cross blood donation center, and schools for the blind and deaf. She was incredibly proud of her Cherokee heritage. She adored her 2 granddaughters. She loved bright colors, music, all the places she lived, and every person she met, especially children. In essence, she loved.
She is survived by her husband Robert Thompson of Mequon; daughter Julie Sutherland (Martin Culbert) of Seattle, WA; daughter Jae Sutherland of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter Kathryn Culbert (Tim Cowart) of Okinawa, Japan; granddaughter Kyra Sutherland of Seattle, WA; brother Scott Moore (Kay) of Charleston, SC; and 4 step-children and 4 step-grandchildren.
