Proud grandfather of Christopher Polcyn, Jason (April) Cowles, Dan (Melissa) Zaffrann, David (Andrea) Zaffrann, Katie Zaffrann, Stephen (Jenny) Roecker, Aaron (Kim) Roecker, Michael Roecker, Allyson Cowles, and Renee Cowles. Proud great-grandfather of Gavin and Shaelynn Cowles and Sam and Ben Zaffrann. Preceded in death by sisters Lila Merry and Mary (Robert) Konitzer.Art was born in Milwaukee to parents John and Catherine Cowles. He graduated from Milwaukee Boys Technical High School in 1936. He served as a surgical technician in WWII with the 49th General Hospital, US Army, in the European Theater. Art was a proud UAW member and retiree of Allis Chalmers, now Siemens Allis. He was a lifelong practicing Catholic who found great peace in his religion.Visitation at the Funeral Home, Friday, November 2, from 4:00-7:00 PM. Continued visitation at ST. MATTHIAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 9306 West Beloit Road, Milwaukee on Saturday, November 3, from 9:30"10:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Committal to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to; Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Association, or American Diabetes Association.
