Nee Grota Born to Eternal Life on April 18, 2023, age 79. Beloved wife of Roger Thomas Kiekhofer for 57 years. Loving mother of Lesley (Earl) Chisholm and Neil (Cheryl) Kiekhofer. Proud grandma of Caleigh (Jake) Sutherland, Reegan, Mara, Avery and Gavin Chisholm and Max and Izzy Kiekhofer. Sister-in-law of Bill (Sherri) Kiekhofer, Jim (Janet) Kiekhofer and Jon (Cathy) Kiekhofer. Preceded in death by her brother Ben (the late Janie) Grota, sister, Barbara (the late Dr. Hank) Hendrickson and parents, Ben and Margaret (nee Nighbor) Grota.

Anne was born in Berlin, WI, moved to Milwaukee to start her nursing career, then to Naperville, IL as Tom pursued his undergraduate degree, then to Franklin Lakes, NJ. Moved to Washington DC pursuing Tom’s business career in 1977. Anne graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fon du Lac, WI in 1963. Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Burn Center, head pediatric nurse at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1974. She was a peer counselor prior to becoming Mother of the Year for the National MS Society in Washington DC in 1981. She then served on the Community Care board of directors from 2001-2017 and Community Care Health Plan from 2001-2023.

Anne and Tom have traveled to Europe multiple times, Japan, Hawaii, Bermuda, South America, transitioned through the Panama Canal, Mexico, Alaska and cruised across the Atlantic Ocean. She and Tom were snowbirds in Palm Harbor, FL for the last 12 years.

Anne was always caring, loving and supportive of her kids. She always chose to be positive and this was shown in her relationships with people. Visitation & Memorial on Sunday, April 30, at the Funeral home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin; 2:15 PM – 3:45 PM, 4:00 PM respectively, with Nursing Corp tribute to take place at 3:30 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 734 Glenview Avenue, Wauwatosa, Monday, May 1, 2023 at 9:00 AM. Private Entombment.

I will forever remember the first day I was privileged to meet Anne, and become her doctor 23 years ago at Community Care. Lots of years passed, but she never lost her grace, her kind spirit, her compassion, her gentleness, her optimism, and of course that beautiful twinkle in her eyes. Thank you Tom, and Family for sharing Anne with us at Community Care, and entrusting her care to us. May you find special comfort in knowing that she was truly loved, will be missed, but is now at peace and is well, safe, and whole in His loving arms. If love alone could have kept her with us, she would have never been able to transition to this special and better place. Tom and family. Very sorry to hear of Anne's leaving us. She was such a source of wisdom and assistance to the Community Care Board for years, as well as a leader by example when in the community to its members. Your care-giving over the years has been a wonderful testament also to the love and support you clearly share with each other. The world is a little dimer with her leaving us.
