(Nee Plzakova) Of Brown Deer. Found peace on April 14, 2011, at age 83. Beloved wife of Howard Maynard Klitgaard. Mother of Andrew (Rose) of Fort Collins, CO; Margaret Klitgaard-Mancel of Stevens Point, WI; Michael (Mary) of Milwaukee; Patricia of Milwaukee; and Diana (Marc) Kubicek of Gobles, MI. Daughter of the late Jiri Plzak and Terezie (nee Stach) of Pilsen, Czech Republic. Grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her brother Vaclav Plzak and sister Jirina Vavrinova (nee Plzakova) of Pilsen, Czech Republic. Anna was born May 12, 1927, in Pilsen, Czech Republic. She attended under-graduate school in Pilsen, and received her certificate in cosmetology with honors. She arrived in the United States as a war bride on July 4, 1946. She studied United States history and received her U.S. citizenship in 1950. While her husband was in graduate school, she worked with handicapped children in the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Due to her husband's position in the medical schools, she hosted numerous receptions and dinners for visiting scientists and physicians from around the world. In 1966 she became active in the Brown Deer United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 26 years. She belonged to the Women's Circle where she spent endless hours making crafts for fundraising in the church. She was president of the United States Sail and Power Squadron Auxiliary and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Shore Yacht Club. For many years she enjoyed sailing and cruising with her husband on Lake Michigan, where she became a very capable helmsman. Visitation at BROWN DEER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 5736 W. Brown Deer Rd., on Saturday, April 16, at 9AM until time of Funeral Service at 10AM. Private entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
