Died peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Age 94. Devoted wife of the late Melvin. Loving mother of Mary Lou (Michael) Juneau and Larry (Janet) Funk. Died peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Age 94. Devoted wife of the late Melvin. Loving mother of Mary Lou (Michael) Juneau and Larry (Janet) Funk. Cherished grandmother of Melinda (Rick) Reeth, Nicole (Alex) Senger, David Juneau, Samantha Juneau, and the late Timothy Funk. Great-grandmother of Ricky, Julie, Lindsay, Genevieve, Josephine, Giselle, Hadyn, and Ellyn.Alice was born on June 13, 1918 in a farming community near Wausau, Wisconsin, and lived most of her younger years in Rothschild, Wisconsin. Though Alice was the only child of Earl and Augusta Felch, she grew up a part of her mother's large extended family.Alice enjoyed singing and piano lessons. She really enjoyed singing in the Wausau High School choir and even performed the leading role in the high school production of "The H.M.S.Pinafore". After graduation, Alice entered St. Mary's School of Nursing and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse.Alice married Melvin Funk in Milwaukee just before he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. While stationed in Maryland, the couple gave birth to a daughter, Mary Lou and a son, Larry. Alice and Mel lived most of their married life in Wausau.Alice had a very fulfilling career and worked in St. Mary's Hospital nursery. She served as a private-duty nurse and also a principal visiting nurse for Wausau VNA. This led to a position in the Wausau City Relief Department, from where she eventually retired.Alice and Mel enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, bowling, boating and traveling the United States in their Air Stream trailer. Following Mel's death, after moving to the Milwaukee area in 1999, Alice was actively involved in Apostle Presbyterian Church. Even in her last years, Alice enjoyed singing, reading, playing Scrabble and watching the Lawrence Welk show. The couple has five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Loved as a Mother, Grandmother, Granny and friend"rest in peace.Visitation at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 28, 1:00-3:00 PM. Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. Private burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Apostle Pre. Church, West Allis.
