Aaron Jurgens Bauer, M.D.
Aaron passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, lovingly surrounded by his family at his home. Age 47. He fought colon cancer with great courage and determination for seven years. He lived each day to the fullest.
Aaron attended St. Matthias Grade School, Pius XI Catholic High School (’94) and Lawrence University (Phi Beta Kappa ’98). In addition to his outstanding academic achievements, he played and loved basketball at every school. One of his proudest achievements was being part of the Conference Championship team at Lawrence University.
Aaron received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin (’02). Most recently he was a pediatrician with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, working at clinics in Mt. Pleasant and Kenosha. He continued seeing patients until this past May…always focused on recovery and returning to work.
Aaron was known for his knowledgeable comments and quiet but quick wit. His memory was amazing, recalling in great detail life events, sports statistics, movies, cars, and most everything he had encountered or learned. In addition to basketball, Aaron was an excellent golfer with a booming drive and accurate short game. Also an avid fisherman (this may be an understatement!), fishing the local rivers and spending long hours on his beloved Elkhart Lake. He believed in CPR (catch, photo, release) and we’re quite sure he caught every fish in Elkhart many times over. He was also a collector of model cars and action figures (the good, the bad and the redeemed). He followed the Packers, Bucks, Brewers and professional golf.
Unforgettable, much loved memories of Aaron will live on with his surviving family: parents Drs. Mark and Cindy, sister Whitney and brothers Dr. Chris (Jeanne), John (Meghan) and Dr. Anderson (Dr. Cindy). Nephews Will, Luke, Jonah (Chris); Jamison, Bryson, Edison (Anderson); Levi and niece Indra (John). Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his grandparents Dr. William and Augusta Bauer and Dr. Delore and Rose Marie Williams and nephew Noah Bauer.
We are grateful to the many cancer specialists and medical personnel who took care of Aaron. We extend a special note of gratitude to everyone on 7th floor CFAC at Froedtert for their outstanding care, compassion and encouragement these past months.
Services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Zimmer presiding. Visitation from 9:00 AM until the funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers please send donations in Aaron’s name to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation, the MACC Fund or Pius XI Catholic High School.
