Sally Joanne Nehm (Majewski), 64, of New Berlin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 14, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Bette (Bauer) Majewski, and nephew Curtis Nehm. She is survived by her husband Rich, siblings Bryan (Molly Michelz), Tim (Lynn), and Chris (Craig) Schmidt, children Andrew (Kristi) and Melissa (Drew) Lehman, granddaughter Samantha, 15 nieces and nephews, and numerous other family.
Sally was born October 7, 1961 in Green Bay, WI. She graduated from Green Bay Southwest high school in 1980, and from UW-Eau Claire with a degree in administrative management in 1985. She interned at the Wisconsin Gas Company during college where she met Rich at the lakefront fireworks in 1984. They were married on August 2, 1986, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic church in Green Bay, and would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this year. Sally later went on to work for Fleet Mortgage and the Journal Sentinel as a computer programmer before leaving to stay home with Andrew and Melissa. In 1999 she returned to school at MATC where she earned a degree in landscape horticulture, and graduated in 2003 with the honor of being selected as the outstanding student graduate commencement speaker for her class. She worked as a landscape designer for a few years, and also spent a season working at Shady Acres nursery. In 2011 she started working at the New Berlin library, which was her favorite job until she retired in 2020.
Sally was an incredible gardener and invested countless hours in designing, building, and maintaining trees, bushes, and flowers in her yard. Anyone who came to visit was offered the famous yard tour, and she would happily spend an afternoon sharing her prized plants with them. In recent years, she acquired a large collection of orchids and succulents as well. Over winter, she would start her seedlings in the basement so that she was ready to plant them in spring. Finally, in 2023 Rich built her a greenhouse on the back of the garage so she could expand her operations.
Sally was also a talented sewer and quilter. She made drapes, clothes, decorations, and many quilts for friends and family, and loved to visit quilting stores as she amassed an expansive fabric collection. In 2024, her quilt won 1st place at the Wisconsin State Fair, and her wedding and baby quilts are treasured mementos.
Sally loved her family more than anything else, and always made family time a priority. Holidays were always spent visiting or hosting family and creating lifelong memories. She especially loved being Samantha’s “Nana” and she will be dearly missed in that role.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Sally in the month after her diagnosis, as well as the friends and family who reached out.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 1:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 12700 West Howard Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin followed by her funeral Mass at 4:00 PM.
