Al, joined his wife, Mary Ellen in eternal life at age 91 on October 23, 2025.
The youngest of nine children, Al was very close to his widowed mother. As a boy, he did the household chores and raised rabbits and vegetables at the house to help support the large family during the depression years. Tending to his mother’s menagerie of cats and dogs left him with a lifelong affection for dogs.
A long career in manufacturing was nurtured in the family too and die shop in Milwaukee and General Electric in New Mexico resulted in two retirements. After returning to Wisconsin, trapshooting, the church gold league, and fishing filled his time. He took great pleasure in his later years sitting on his deck, visiting with family, and feeding the birds and rabbits.
Al is lovingly remembered by his four children; Rosemary Wallner (David Hennings), Brenda Grabowski (Dan), Rod Wallner (Sandy), and Diane Munz (Gary). “Papa” to five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and anticipated the seventh in April. His caregivers; Bonnie, Nancy, and Mari affectionately supported his family’s goal to keep Al in his own home as his health waned.
Private family services and a celebration of Al’s life will be held at a later date.
