Passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, age 79. Danny is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Linda (nee Scott) Jones. Danny is further survived by his daughter Megan, and his sisters Ann and Rebecca. He is also survived by his nieces Jennifer, Jessica, and Poppy and his grandnieces Hannah and Lexi and his grandnephew Camden.

Danny was born on May 30, 1945 to Daniel and Alma Jones in Homestead, Florida. Raised in Massachusetts, Danny enjoyed camping in the New England area with his family, Boy Scouts all the way up to Explorer level, and working in the church with his dad. After high school he attended the University of Massachusetts and obtained a magna cum laude Bachelor of Science degree.

In 1967 Danny met his wife Linda while at Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, Colorado. He graduated with a Master of Science degree in 1969 and he and Linda got married that same year in Arvada, Colorado.

From 1970 to 1973 Danny served in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller. He then returned to CSU and obtained his doctorate in Forest Biometry in 1975. From 1975 to 2015 he worked for the U.S. Forest Service, first in Ft. Collins, Colorado, then in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was a Regional Operations Research Analyst.

Danny enjoyed hiking, biking, camping, and traveling the world with Linda. In this country they visited all 50 states and drove the entire Route 66, from Chicago to Santa Monica. One of Danny’s bike rides involved a 490-mile trip along the Mississippi River with friends.

In his retirement Danny pursued beer and wine making for several years, always sharing with family, friends and neighbors.

A devoted family man, he was an ardent fan of his wife’s musical performances and his daughter’s dance, theater, and equestrian competitions as a youth and her many creative accomplishments as an adult.

Sorry to hear of Dan's passing. Dan served on the Forest Service Credit Union Board of Directors for many years when Linda was President. Linda valued Dan's opinions and we were good friends. George and Linda enjoyed many biking and other activities with Dan and Linda. We have recently moved back to WI from NM to be close to family in the Eau Claire area. Linda you are in our prayers.

Many memories both happy and sad... Brother Dan, you will always be in my heart. With Love and Gratitude for your Presence in this shared lifetime and for bringing Linda and Megan into it as well, I send many Blessings for your new journey. Love always, your sister Rebecca.

Knew Dan from his work as an Analyst with the USFS. Prayers are sent to Dan's wife and family with sympathy and his military service is recognized with a slow hand salute.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it - Danny's gone - a seismic shift in my universe. He was not only my brother, but he was a dearest friend.
