Beverly Born Hunt

Beverly Jean Hunt (née Born) passed into Eternal Life at age 90 on June 13, 2024.

She was a lifelong resident of Wauwatosa, Brookfield, and Sarasota, FL. Beverly married Frederick B. Hunt in 1953 and they were blessed with three children, George Jeffrey, Thomas Frederick (deceased) and Patricia Lee Hunt.

While her children were young, she skillfully created hand crafts of all kinds, was active in PTA, and St. Joseph Hospital candy stripers. She held key roles at Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, Wauwatosa Pioneers, and Heritage Garden Club. Her community was important to her—she willingly accepted & held leadership positions in the Wauwatosa Historical Society, Wauwatosa Jr. Women’s Club, the Tosa HS class of 1951 reunion committee and P.E.O. Beverly was forever grateful to work alongside such great people.

For her community work, Beverly was presented the Wauwatosa Distinguished Citizen Award in 1989. Caring so deeply & strongly about her community and about the importance of preserving its past and enabling that history to be shared with future generations, she co-founded Friends of Lowell Damon, to raise funds and assist with repairs to the historic building and gardens of the Lowell Damon House. For many years she faithfully assisted with the Wauwatosa Girls Club, a group for young women and men who were intellectually challenged—organizing outings, classes, and activities. Additionally, Bev was a friend and advocate to a Wauwatosa Junior Women’s Club member who was in a nursing home with multiple sclerosis. Bev provided support, information, sewed smocks to accommodate physical abilities, luncheon dates, and provided a much-needed sense of community.

Beverly loved the adventure she shared during extensive travels with family and many loving friends. She brought laughter and fun to the many events that she & Fred planned at University Park C.C. in Sarasota. Beverly served as a volunteer at Ringling Museum and a bell ringer with Fred for the Salvation Army.

She is survived by her husband Frederick, son and daughter-in-law George Jeffrey and Jodie (née Clark) Hunt, and daughter Patricia Hunt. Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved sister Patsy Bathey, with whom she shared a remarkable lifetime of devotion. Beverly is also survived by five grandchildren, Georgia Hunt Taylor, Frederick Aaron Hunt (Lisa Ashenbrenner Hunt), Tracey Mayer (Dr. Dan Culhane), Kimberly North (Dr. Mike North), and Chloe Mayer (Matt Loewi). Also survived by four great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Tiffany, her Aurora Hospice nurse, for her gentle and loving care of Beverly and the Congregational Home staff for their support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, Saturday, June 29 at 2:00pm, with visitation at 1:00pm. Refreshments and time for fellowship with the family will follow the service. Parking at 1600 Underwood Ave. in the lot behind the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Salvation Army are appreciated.
