Deacon Robert Bellamy, born in Madison, Florida, on January 19, 1932, to the Late Hillard and Pearlie (Alexander) Bellamy, spent much of his childhood in Sylvester, Georgia. The family eventually homesteaded in Tifton, Georgia, where he devoted his early years to God, working in the ministry and becoming ordained as a Deacon. He traveled alongside the late Bishop Hightower, participating in revivals in the surrounding churches. In 1950, he married the late Ruby Lee Bellamy, and their union lasted for an admirable 61 years.
Moving to Milwaukee in 1951, Mr. Bellamy pursued both work and the American Dream. His family, following shortly behind, joined him in the pursuit of new opportunities. Achieving homeownership in the Milwaukee area, Mr. Bellamy took great pride in being awarded the Home Beautification Certificate by the Late Mayor Henry Meyer. His industrious spirit led him through various occupations, including 13 years at Patrick Cudahy meat packing and over 25 years in Construction for Selzer and Ornst. He received recognition for his dedication as a member of Local 113 Union for over 50 years.
As a business owner, his company, RB Remodeling, left a lasting mark on many homes in the Milwaukee area. Additionally, Mr. Bellamy, alongside his wife, operated RB Catering, a venture that brought joy and nourishment to numerous social events in churches and communities. Locals often attested that “if you haven’t tasted Bob’s barbecue, you haven’t had good barbecue.” Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Bellamy love God and cherished his family; exemplifying a big heart and a generous spirit. After a lengthy illness he found solace in listening to his favorite T.V. Pastor, Bishop G.E. Patterson and enjoying the Music of gospel artist Dorothy Norwood. He found joy in simple pleasures, such as riding his bike, visiting the Race Track, playing the lottery, indulging in scratch-offs and watching sports.
