Colleen, I just found out about John and was so sorry to hear that he had passed. I know what a shock it must have been and my prayers go out to you, Jason and Joey and the rest of the family. When I would go out for my walk, it was always such a pleasure to stop and chat with him and I missed that when you moved out of the neighborhood. God’s peace be with you always! Diana (Stobbs & Jason used to babysit my boys!)

We were lucky enough to be neighbors to the Kristbaum family for many years in Brookfield. I hold fond memories from my childhood of time spent with the entire family, including John. I can vividly picture him in the backyard deer stand with his bow, throwing the tennis ball with the labs, riding the mower or hanging with his boys and Colleen. He gave me my first bow, I’m sure one of Jason or Joe’s, and they all showed me how to use it. I remember John as being both strong and kind, deep with conviction and content with the simple gifts of life. One day, a few years ago, I drove my wife by the old house and turning onto 145th street we crossed paths with John, I hadn’t seen him in 15 years. I was able to introduce them and he was so genuinely happy to see us and meet her. I remember leaving that moment being so glad that my wife was able to meet one of my favorite people from my childhood and that he was as wonderful as I remembered. I’m so sad he is gone, and so sure his kindness and conviction and appreciation of life live on in his boys and in the hearts of all who knew him! There are honestly so many stories I could tell, I’m just thankful to have grown up around him! - the neighbor kid (Evan)
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Colleen, Jason and Joey, My deepest sympathy over the loss of your beloved husband, father and grandfather. It is so very hard to say goodbye. We want them here with us, but we don't want them to suffer and unfortunately, we cannot have it both ways. It is a difficult journey. My prayers and love to all of you. Praying God will grant you all strength in the days to come as you grieve. John is in the loving arms of God and at peace, and that can bring much comfort, but the loss of his presence on earth is very palpable. Take care and love and hugs to you all!
