Carole was born on February 17, 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the youngest of four children. She attended St. Aloysius in West Allis for elementary school and Mercy High School in Milwaukee, where she was the Commanding Drum Majorette and President of the Mercy Drum and Bugle Corp.
In 1951, Carole married Jerome “Jerry” Jachthuber, while he was serving in the United States Marine Corps. While on their honeymoon in Canada, Jerry was called to active duty. When he returned home from the Korean War, they moved to the Marine Corps base in Norfolk, VA where Jerry was stationed. Carole and Jerry moved back to West Allis in 1955, before building a home in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
Carole worked at Schwartzburg Chevrolet, Schallock Peterson, and for the Elmbrook School District before retiring in 1995 to spend more time with Jerry, her children, and grandchildren. In retirement, Carole pursued her favorite hobbies—traveling and singing. As a first soprano with the Bel Canto Chorus, Allegro Chorale, Immaculate Heart of Mary Choir, and Brookfield Civic Center Choir for over 40 years, Carole sang in hundreds of concerts, including at the Vatican in Italy and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Jerry and Carole traveled extensively through the years, including family vacations across the country and trips abroad—including 15 European vacations and trips to Israel, Egypt, Greece, and the Philippines. Carole also visited the Dominican Republic on a mission trip with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 2001.
Carole was an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (now Mother of Perpetual Help) in West Allis since 1959. She and Jerry were also members of the Schaefer Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post, the West Allis Knights of Columbus, and the Southeastern Rod and Gun Club.
Always a kind, fun, and welcoming hostess, Carole loved parties with friends and family—where she would often be found preparing delicious food, serving drinks behind the bar, playing a game, or laughing with her guests.
Carole passed away peacefully in Huntsville, Alabama, surrounded by her loved ones. The family would like to thank the staff at Huntsville Hospital and Fr. Altonji at Holy Spirit Catholic Church for all the remarkable care they provided to Carole.
