Age 92, left this world in peace, surrounded by his family, on May 17th, 2012. Herb was born on March 8, 1920 in New Berlin, Wisconsin. He met the love of his life and best friend, Marie (nee Franczek) Stephens, 71 years ago at the Eagles Ballroom. They were married November 18, 1944 at Holy Apostles Church, and would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this fall. He was a lifetime resident of New Berlin, and was recognized as the city's honorary 4th of July parade marshal last summer. Beginning his career as a proud 4th-generation farmer, Herb became a milk hauler for Golden Guernsey Dairy, and worked with them for over 55 years. During his life, Herb was actively involved in the community and his church, serving as a charter member of Holy Apostles Usher Society, and was a 75-year member of Catholic Knights. Through his last day, Herb was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3095.Herb is survived by his loving wife, Marie. He was the proud father of the late Rick (Connie) Stephens, Larry (Deb) Stephens, the late Ron (Bev) Stephens, and Carol (Bob) Treml. He had 12 grandchildren: Joe (Katie) Stephens, Cheryl (Kevin) Frank, Julie (Ryan) Erdmann, Jason (Bri) Mau, David (Katie) Stephens, Kristin Stephens, Robert (Nikki) Stephens, Keith (Jen) Stephens, Katie (Josh) Yost, Steven (Julie) Treml, Paul (Alexa) Treml, and Julie (Scott) Hintz. He had 11 and 1/2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Walter Franczek, and many nieces and nephews.
