(Nee Christophel) Passed away peacefully on July 21, 2008, at the age of 98 1/2 years. Cherished mother and best friend of Dorothy (the late James) Bonin. Amazing grandmother of David (Deborah), Christopher (Jacqueline), John (Shelley) and Anne (David) Grotkin. Beloved great-grandmother of Michael, Steven, Rachel, Daniel, Rebekah, Charles, Sophia and Katherine. Preceded in death by husbands Charles Coon and Carl Egelhoff, and numerous other relatives and loved ones. Ruth was a feisty and independent woman. However, she was a pushover for her grandchildren, and her shopping prowess was legendary, especially at Christmas. Born in Wisconsin, Ruth lived in various cities in her younger years. She loved to travel and visited Spain, Morocco, Canada, Mexico and Hawaii. She also enjoyed a number of winters in Florida. Ruth worked in various jobs before her retirement, rising to Union Steward for the Garment Workers Union at Jack Winter Manufacturing. Ruth had a great sense of humor. She was not afraid of death and often laughed. "I don't want to live to be 100, but I don't want to go today." "Today" finally came. Her cause of death was TMB (too many birthdays). She always thought that was funny. Ruth will be greatly missed, but always remembered. Our family would like to thank Dr. Kim, nurses Dan and Mary, and all of the wonderful staff at LindenGrove for their outstanding care and attention. Their love and compassion for Ruth and our family over the years and especially in recent days was wonderful and greatly appreciated. Visitation at SAINT ELIZABETH ANN SETON CHURCH, 12700 W. Howard Ave., New Berlin, on Friday, July 25, 2008, from 10-10:45AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Interment at Forest Home Cemetery, in Milwaukee. If desired, memorials to LindenGrove Nursing Home, 13755 W. Fieldpointe Dr., New Berlin, WI 53151 would be appreciated.
