Died Friday, February 27, 2009, after a long illness at LindenGrove Skilled Nursing Facility, New Berlin, age 79. Survivors include her sister, Ruth Smits, ten nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James and her brother-in-law, Robert Smits. She was born August 7, 1929 in Green Bay to Norbert and Elsie Mae (Franc) Pischke. She was an English Teacher at Luxemburg, Merrill and West Allis Central High Schools for many years. Following retirement, she was a volunteer at the West Allis Memorial Hospital where she was chairperson for their Merit Scholarship program. Visitation at the Funeral Home Thursday, March 5, 2009, 4-6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Catholic Church, 415 6th Avenue, Antigo, Friday, March 6, 2009 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
