He also worked in the sign trade since 1955, retiring in 2009 from his own Bernie's Sign Studio. Past President of the Sign Local 770.He was recognized alongside of Warhohl, Lichenstein, and Johns as a pop art pioneer with his "Mrs. Karl's Bread" 60'x150' mural on the side of a downtown Milwaukee building, one of the largest pop art works in the world. He also received awards and recognition for donating his significant talent to many organizations, including the Village of Greendale and Channel 10.His passion for life, sense of humor, and love for his family will be missed by all.
