Carolyn Marie Happel (nee Kurtz), 45, our "Little Firecracker," found peace on Tuesday June 10, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Anthony; her son, Andrew; her brother, Jeff; her sister, Jill; her parents, James and Barbara; and her chinchilla, Chloe. Carolyn was a deeply loving, caring, compassionate soul who dedicated her life to helping others as a Social Worker. She graduated from Marquette Law School in December of 2013, and she intended to practice healthcare law. She counseled others in their time of need, and volunteered her time for numerous causes, including working with the homeless and the disabled. She also organized charitable events with various organizations. She was a caretaker for the world. She was an accomplished cyclist, tri-athlete and cross country skier. She loved hiking, camping, going to the beach, dancing and hula hooping. She was a devoted mom and a great friend. After being diagnosed with a sarcoma she dedicated herself to learning everything she could about cancer and how to beat it. She fought like a brave warrior, while also exhibiting the grace and beauty of an angel. She became part of a sarcoma network where she befriended and counseled others suffering with sarcomas, and she was an inspiration to everyone who came in contact with her. She was one of the beautiful shining lights on this earth and she will be forever in our hearts. There will be a family visitation held on Wednesday, June 18th at Brookfield Congregational United Church of Christ at 16350 Gebhardt Road in Brookfield, Wisconsin from 4:30 to 6:30 pm with a memorial service to follow. Carolyn supported numerous healthcare, charitable and social organizations, and the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, Hunger Task Force, WAVE Anti-Violence Campaign, Planned Parenthood and any organizations that do charitable work for women and children in need.
