Jim Baier passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 58. He was the beloved and cherished husband of Sandy, and the loving father of Jeff, Jon, and Max.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Isabelle (Wolfe) Baier.
He was a caring son to Lorrie (Stippich) Baier, a devoted brother to Terri (Bill) Cipriano, Kathy (Bob) Hedtcke, Ceci Baier, and Joe Baier, a generous, thoughtful brother-in-law to Sharon Aquino, Susette Aquino, and Miles (Alison) Aquino and a treasured uncle to Jamie Cipriano, Tony (Sarah) Cipriano, Mike Cipriano, Dan Cipriano, Tracy (Curt) Yorkey, Kristine (Rich) Schmidt, Lana Baier, James Beckley, Monique Beckley, and Mercedes McCann.
Jim was the cornerstone of his family. He remained steadfast in his love for his high school sweetheart for 40 years. He was so proud of his sons no matter what they did. He enjoyed watching them play sports, especially hockey, being an active part of their Scouting experiences, sharing his passion for boating, fishing, and shooting with them, or just “hanging out”.
Jim loved being a cop. He was a great police officer and an even greater sergeant. During his 30-year career with the Milwaukee Police Department he was a role model and mentor who inspired and influenced countless officers.
Jim enjoyed helping and teaching other people. Whether fixing a car or teaching someone to water ski he was always happy to help out. He could fix anything and he had the tools to do it. He would spend hours (sometimes days) trying to figure out how to do something in the best way possible but he would always get it done.
In everything he did, Jim’s charming smile, contagious sense of humor, and love for practical jokes endeared him to everyone he met.
Jim loved life and enjoyed people. He was a genuinely “nice guy” who would do anything to help out. His enthusiasm for life, his joy in taking care of others, and his crazy sense of humor will be deeply missed.
