Passed away on January 8, 2019, at age 83, at Zilber Family Hospice, after an extended illness, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Milwaukee on January 6, 1936, to Elmer and Elsa (nee Boge) Gissing. He is survived by his former wife, Carol Gissing; his cousin, Edward Gissing; long time friends, Harold Panetti and Alex Velez; and many other friends, who loved him dearly.
Earl worked for over 25 years as a disc jockey and news reporter at a number of radio stations in Wisconsin and Illinois, including WAWA in Elm Grove. He was also a real estate broker for over 30 years. Earl was an ordained minister, serving on the announcing team at Unity Church of Christianity and also performed dozens of weddings at The Loft and Chapel at Cedar Ridge in Waukesha. A recipient of the Evans Scholar Award, he studied at the University of Wisconsin. One of his greatest pastimes was playing golf with his many friends. Earl’s sense of humor, kind spirit, and positive energy will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
A Celebration of Earl’s Life will be held at Spiritual Living of Greater Milwaukee, 400 South 91st Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
