Joseph Payne, Sr.

Entered God’s loving arms on July 19, 2019 at age 92. He was reunited with his late wife Lorraine (nee Webster). Father of Joseph Payne Jr., Howard Payne, Ronald Payne, Michael (the late Gertie) Payne and Debra Payne. Grandfather of Tracy (Montea) Payne, LaToya Payne, Michaela Payne, Michael Payne Jr., Avere Thomas, and Alicia Johnson. Great-grandfather of 4. He is further survived and will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents Wink and Corrine (nee Tarrant) Payne, his siblings Cora Mae (David) Chistmon, Lillie Belle (James) Blakely, Conzella (Walter) Reynolds, Wink (Thesalonia) Payne Jr., James (Ruth) Payne, Roland Payne, George Payne, and Dorothy (Otis) Banks.

Joseph served his country in the US Army during WWII as a radio operator, a sharp shooter and a prisoner of war guard in Okinawa, Japan.  He was a proud member of American Legion Post #479.

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery.
