Zelma Louise Jones (Triplett) was born on October 6, 1938, to Halbert Triplett and Minnie Mae Smith in Louisville, Mississippi. Zelma received her formal education at Louisville Colored High School in Louisville, MS, and she graduated in 1959. After moving to Milwaukee in 1962, she began working in the medical and food industry. Zelma worked full-time while attending night School. She furthered her education at the Milwaukee Business Training Institute (MBTI) studying keypunch, data entry, and data processing.

Zelma accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 25 and was originally united with Antioch Baptist Church in Milwaukee and was an active choir member. She later was united with Christian Faith Fellowship Church from 2000 to 2020. In the last few years of her life, she became closer to the Lord, Jesus Christ. Above all, her faith and family were forefront and therefore Zelma enjoyed listening to traditional Christian hymns, reading her Bible and spending time with her loved ones.

Zelma Louise Triplett was united in holy matrimony with Leroy Jones. Their union was blessed with one child. She always worked hard to take care of her family. She was frugal and knew how to save money for when it was really needed; she shared with her children the importance of saving money, and always provided for her family.

Mom loved to cook, and she learned how to cook when she was just eight years old. Mom enjoyed a good fish sandwich, and enjoyed a dessert after dinner. This dessert would often be a piece of home-made cake, making her own caramel frosting, pie, or frozen vanilla custard! Mom told us how breakfast was the most important meal and she enjoyed a hearty and healthy breakfast herself.

She began her working career as a cook at Gimbels Department Store in downtown Milwaukee. Zelma was employed with BlueCross BlueShield of Wisconsin as a claims processor where she served for 31 years until her retirement in 2000. Zelma enjoyed playing cards, especially Pokeno, bowling and was a member of a bowling league, and she also loved to sew and embroider. Our mom enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud and playing along. Mom was so funny, even when she wasn’t trying to be, often telling funny stories about something she experienced.

Zelma Louise Jones departed this life and went on to meet the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020.

Mom loved our dog Carter so much. He kept her company during the day. He was always waiting for mom to give him a pancake. He knew when she made oatmeal. Those were the times he would far from the table

Miss you and love you so much Mom. Genesis misses you so much too. I am going to miss the family gathers and going shopping to get food for the cook outs. Stan would bring tons of meat to cook at my expense; lol. You bring; you cook it! It was all in love and we all had a great time♥️

Mom I miss you so much. I am so glad that I moved back to Milwaukee to share memorable moments with you. Thank you for the five years you spent living with me and Genesis. So glad that you were able to bond with Carter. Mommy I miss calling you and asking how you doing and what you ate that day. I am always talking about you to someone. You were a woman of wisdom and great strength. Each day I smile because I know you can walk and dance now! Love you mom♥️

Thank you all sooo much for your kind words. Some days and moments are better than others. I miss my Mom so very much. I miss seeing her, calling and talking to her, caring for her, and asking for her advice. Thank you all for your prayers. Remember we only have one life to live; life is short...eternity is long. Where will you spend eternity?! Call, text, go visit, or give a hug to your Mom, your Dad, your Grandma, your Grandpa, your sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends, et. show them and let them know how much you love them and care about them!---tomorrow is not promised to anyone!....God bless you all! Forgive those of the past, and ask for forgiveness from others you have offended--Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior--today!
