Dory Ann Skenadore was born April 5, 1948, to the late Dolores P. and Glenn C. Skenadore. She returned to her heavenly home on January 13, 2021.
​
Dory was a graduate of UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She exemplified strength and perseverance as shown by her career path. Dory worked for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department for 25 years. She began her career as a Dispatcher, then worked to become a Deputy Sheriff. As such, she cared deeply about the community and was on the forefront of the D.A.R.E. program, teaching kids to stay away from drugs. Dory also taught and looked after many officers retiring as a Sergeant in 2005. She paved the way for other women who wanted a career in law enforcement and her work ethic was unmatched.

Dory was a member of the St. Jude’s League, Wisc. Assoc. of Women Police, Wisc. Deputy Sheriff Assoc., Milwaukee Christian Center, UW-Milwaukee Alumni Assoc., and the Indian Summer Organization. Dory held love and pride for her Native American heritage and enjoyed sharing her culture with others.

Dory is survived by the apple of her eye and favorite person on this earth, her loving daughter, Amy Skenadore, adorable son-in-law Mark Brunner, and precious goddaughter Sarah Oenning (Murray) and family. She is further survived by her large family of 7 siblings, nieces, nephew, cousins, the Murray and Brunner families, and friends.

Dory was preceded in death by her nephew Joey Skenadore, her intellectual best friend Cherie Murray (aka “2 hours”) as well as other aunts, uncles, and cousins. We are certain that all look forward to reuniting for a pow-wow in celebration of her return to them and our heavenly father.
​

Dory had an infectious laugh and a quick wit. She was an avid crafter who enjoyed traveling with her daughter to craft conventions. She loved meeting people and listening to new pop music. Dory relished watching Packer games and spending time with her fur grand-dog Lakota who always got a treat whenever she returned home.

Even when they're gone, we can still look back and clearly see the trail they left behind. A trail that's bright with Hope and Love that invites you to follow. That was Dory...Sergeant, Friend and mentor that assisted me during my dispatch days at MCSO. I will always cherish the memories of Dory's compassion, fun and laughter while working as an Instructor at MCSO after she retired, and conducting the Community Emergency Response training (CERT) with me throughout the State of Wisconsin. We made numerous trips, but none would beat the best of times we had when going to Green Bay with Amy and visiting with Dory's mother & father...so many laughs!
