Brianna “Bri” Woodmere Bernhardt, 38, left this world on July 1, 2021, after fearlessly battling an extremely aggressive cancer for over a year and a half. Bri died at her home in Delafield, WI, surrounded by those she loved the most, while listening to her favorite music and hearing stories of her past escapades being recounted by her loved ones.
Bri was born on November 3, 1982, in Boston, MA, to Joanne and Brian Bernhardt. She spent her early childhood growing up in Havre, MT, with her younger brother, “Dr.” Noah Bernhardt, before moving to Genesee, Wisconsin, where she would meet her life-long friends Patty, Chelsea, Julie, and Jenny. An avid soccer player throughout her youth, who was known for her wry sense of humor, many of Bri’s happiest moments in life were spent with her friends, playing indoor/outdoor soccer, and looking for trouble in her Mitsubishi Eclipse. Bri attended Kettle Moraine High School and upon graduating, returned to Montana, where she would earn a bachelor’s degree after three years of study at the University of Montana in Missoula.
Adamantly opposed to the notion of both marriage and children for most of her life, Bri would return to Wisconsin, where she would go on to hold several jobs before ultimately settling at U.S. Bank. It was there that she unexpectedly met the love of her life, Nicholas “Nick” Reid and she knew in an instant that she had found her other half. Inseparable from the moment they met, it was during this time that Bri was at her happiest in life. The two eventually wed on the island of St. Kitts and learned the following year that Bri was expecting their first child. Brianna “Bri Jr” Woodmere Reid was delivered shortly after Bri learned she had stage IV metastatic melanoma.
Bri was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bernice “Binny” and Walter Rosenberger and Eleanor and Ralph Bernhardt; her father-in-law, Roger Haushalter; and her beloved pug, Briggs.
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Reid; daughter, Brianna Reid; mother, Joanne (nee Rosenberger) Bernhardt; father, Brian (Joyce) Bernhardt; brother, Noah Bernhardt; and mother-in-law, Mary Gardner. She is further survived by a multitude of family, friends, coworkers, and clients, whose lives will be forever richer for having known her.
Gathering will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI 53072, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, 4-6:45PM. Service at 7PM.
