Wally is survived by his loving wife Kathryn Mihelich, and his children Todd Heuer, Tara (Kevin) Kircher, Tracy (Mike) Niedermann, and Tammy (Nicholas) Enea. He is survived by nine grandchildren, and two of his eight siblings: Maxine Truax and Charles Heuer.
Born and raised on a farm in Bertha, MN, on March 20, 1936, Wally was the sixth of eight siblings, growing up in a family that valued humility and loyalty. Working on the farm instilled a valuable work ethic from a young age. He married his HS sweetheart Lois in 1956, and before starting a family, served in the U.S. Army. Wally and Lois raised four wonderful children together.
What started in Bertha quickly took them on adventures to Colorado, Washington, Illinois and eventually Wisconsin, where they set down roots in Hales Corners. Wally pursued higher education at Concordia College where he earned his bachelor’s degree, laying the foundation for a life marked by integrity and dedication to the Lord. Wally struck the workplace lottery in 1976 when Hales Corners Lutheran Church came calling. Wally proudly served as the Lay Minister and Business Manager at HCLC for 38 years.
Wally was first and foremost a Christian, a deep and profound follower of God. His deep belief in God was a guiding force in his life, influencing his actions and interactions with others. Wally’s commitment to fairness and kindness was evident in everything he did, making him a respected and admired member of his community.
Wally was known for his ability to tell captivating stories, a skill that endeared him to many and left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of truly knowing him. As we reflect on Wally’s life, we celebrate a man who lived with purpose and grace, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith.
His memory will continue to inspire his loving family and a community of friends who will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace, having met his Savior with the same grace and dignity that he exemplified throughout his life.
