Thurston Gish Lenyard, age 63, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 30, 2024, while preparing for work. Born on February 3, 1961, to Caroline Lenyard and the late Samuel Lee Lenyard, Thurston lived a life full of vibrancy, determination, and love for his family.
In his early years, Thurston developed a passion for fashion, barbering, and cosmetology. His creativity and entrepreneurial spirit led him to move to Boston, Massachusetts, where he managed his own successful salon. After many years, he returned to Milwaukee to be closer to his loved ones.
In his 50s, Thurston embraced a new chapter in his life, earning his commercial driver’s license and embarking on a career as a truck driver. He found joy and fulfillment in his work, traveling the country while maintaining strong connections with those he held dear.
Thurston was known for his infectious laughter, radiant smile, and magnetic personality that drew people to him wherever he went. He brought joy and light to every room he entered and was a source of unwavering support for his family and friends.
Thurston was proceeded in death by his grandmother and grandfather, his father Samuel Lee Lenyard, his brother Brian Patrick Lenyard, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Thurston is survived by his beloved mother, Caroline Clark; his older brother, Samuel Lenyard; his devoted children: Tacey Lenyard, Anne Lenyard, and Thurston Gish Lenyard Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren: Cece, Nova, Melody, Khalil, LaMiracle, Qwantae, Michael, and Lord. He also leaves behind his aunts Pamela, Constance, and Etta, and a host of cousins, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
His memory will live on in the laughter, love, and stories shared by those who were fortunate to know him. Thurston’s bright light may no longer shine in this world, but his legacy of love, joy, and resilience will endure forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
Thurston’s family invites all who knew and loved him to join in a celebration of his life. Visitation from 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM, followed by a service at 12:30 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
