Selma Schneider, 96, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025 at Angel’s Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Selma was born on March 2, 1929 in Martinovka, Ukraine, the daughter of Johann and Lydia (Arnholz) Fiebich. She immigrated to the United States from Germany in May 1952 and married Stephen in 1954.
She began her working career at Reliable Knitting when she arrived in Milwaukee followed by working a punch press at Briggs and Stratton and finally working over 30 years at West Allis Memorial Hospital as a Housekeeping Aide.
Selma became a member of Milwaukee Spielmannzug in 1965. Through the years she was actively volunteering at Germanfest, Bockbierfest and the Holiday Folk Fair. Each year Selma and her husband generously donated a full sheet cake of Bienenstich to the club for the Bockbierfest and candy for Santa’s treat bags. Turns out she is also related to Santa and Mrs. Claus! She will be remembered for her delicious meals especially her fried chicken, homemade apple strudel, Palatschinken or Crêpes and cheese cakes, and her creamy cucumber salad.
Selma is survived by her daughter Inge (Terry) Heidmann; sister Alma Lerner; brother Helmut (Anna) Fiebich, brother-in-law Vic (Cheryl) Schneider; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen; her parents; and her brother Johann Fiebich.
Memorial service will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Friday, August 29, 2025 with visitation from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a service to follow, and then a luncheon at Duke’s Bar & Grill in Hartland.
