I'm so sorry for your loss. My condolences to the Smith family. I'll always remember Rod and working together at US Steel. We had some good times. I always looked forward to breakfast before work and talking about all kinds of things. We only talked once a year since, a Merry Christmas and how are you. I wish it was more.

To Lucy, Chris and Ali: My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to each of you. You were lucky to have known him for all/most of your lives. I only knew him for about 10 years when we worked together at Williams Steel, Metals USA and finally Russell Metals. Rod took this “FIB” under his wing and we spent many nights having dinner, on business trips, at Marquette games or even a High School State Championship game in Madison. He showed me all the interesting places in Milwaukee (both of them). [Sorry, that was the FIB in me.] A sudden loss of a loved one can turn our world upside down; but we have our memories to put it back on its axis. I have many found memories of Rod and praying that the good Lord has a well-stocked pond for him. Again, my deepest and sincere sympathy to each of you and his brother, Rick. Take care, Joe Petz
