Left this world to join his late wife, Sarmite, while comforted by their son on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the age of 75 years.
Bob was born on September 23, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Robert and Ruth Greenwood and was brother to Guyon, Linda, Cheri and Ron. He met his future wife of 43 years, Sarmite, as they both attended West Division High School in Milwaukee, WI. Bob served in the army during the Vietnam War as a medic between 1966-1968. Bob married Sarmite on September 9, 1972 at the Milwaukee Latvian Lutheran Church. They welcomed their son, Christian, on October 15, 1981.
During his high school years, he was voted by his classmates as “class clown” and seemed to make it his life’s work to live up to that honor through his one-of-a-kind sense of humor, animated personality, and love for goofy hats.
Over the course of his career, Bob applied his strong work ethic and drive to succeed for more than 30 years with Miller Brewing Company. Working for Miller also afforded him the ability to supply the beer for countless parties, fishing trips, and deer camps thanks to employee beer sales.
He was also skilled in many areas of construction and even built his first home. He had almost every tool imaginable and would happily borrow them to you. Although it may have taken him a day or two to find it in his garage.
Bob loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was often found in the fields or marshes with his favorite dogs, and good friends. He was an excellent shot with a rifle, and whitetail shook at the mention of his name. However, climbing into a duck boat with him was always a questionable proposition, as he was known to have sunk a few boats.
Bob will always be remembered for his generosity with his time, knowledge, and possessions and how that has impacted so many. His way of finding a reason to celebrate anytime he was with family and friends and for his fierce and unwavering love for his family and those close to him.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Christian and favorite daughter-in-law, Kira; as proud papa to Jackson and Henry. His beloved sisters Guyon (Bill) Metzen, Linda Hass, and Cheryl (Jeff) Reischl and brother, Ronald (Judi) Greenwood. Bob is also survived and loved by nephews, friends and by many who knew him as the “BobFather.”
Visitation at the Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM. Funeral Service at 3:00 PM.
