Paul David Rovge

On May 15, 1965, Paul David Rovge was born to Melvin and Magdalena “Meg” (Scherr) Rovge in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was raised with his sisters, Judy and Mary. He attended Mother of Perpetual Help Grade School and graduated from Custer High School in 1983.

Paul joined QuadGraphics in 1989, starting at the Sussex plant. When the West Allis plant opened in 1994, he transferred there and met Jeni. They married in 1997, the same year Paul was promoted to finishing shift supervisor, a position he held for the next 25 years. Paul was a hard-working leader who held himself to high standards. He expected nothing less from those around him and earned the respect of the people who worked alongside him.

Paul and Jeni spent their first 10 years together in Greenfield before making their home in Sussex in 2004. Together they raised their two children, Austin and Gabrielle (Gabby), and, in 2015, welcomed sister puppies Kammi and Kepler into their family.

Paul was a devoted husband to Jeni, a loving and proud father to Austin and Gabby, and a doting dog dad to Kammi and Kepler. He loved his family and made sure they were well provided for. If someone needed him, Paul was there. If there was a problem, Paul found a solution. If something was broken, Paul fixed it.

Paul was a man of many talents and a master of many trades. Naturally mechanical, he could fix just about anything. When Paul did something, he did it right—even if that meant tackling several other tasks before he could finish the first one properly.

Paul valued craftsmanship, never cut corners, and rarely hired someone to do something he could do himself. He took great pride in his home and was the household plumber, electrician, carpenter, painter, gardener, and mechanic.

Paul worked hard, but he also made time for the people and things he loved most. He enjoyed going to farmers markets, watching cooking shows, experimenting with new recipes, year-round charcoal grilling, smoking meats, and making his own beef jerky. Nearly every weekend, he was in the kitchen preparing delicious meals for his family.

Paul enjoyed all kinds of movies and music. His favorite movies ranged from classic films to the latest action releases. Paul and Austin spent many weekends watching movies together, time they both looked forward to.

Paul’s music playlist included everything from metal, rock, and alternative to country and pop. One song he could never resist singing along to was Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”

Paul was fun to be around and was always up for a good time. One of his last nights out before getting sick was at a Mini KISS concert with his longtime friend and brother-in-law, Jay Sormrude.

Paul loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and, most of all, golfing. One of the days Paul looked forward to most each year was his Father’s Day tradition of miniature golfing with Austin and Gabby. While those outings were all about family and fun, on the golf course Paul was naturally competitive and never passed up a chance to show everyone just how far he could drive a golf ball.

Paul was funny, witty, and genuine. Throughout his life, he had many good friends, including his best friend of 37 years, Jim Opliger. Over the years, they could always count on one another—if one of them had a project, they knew the other would be right there to help.

They enjoyed year-round bonfires and spent many summer days at Jim and Sherri’s on Lake Keesus. Every chance he got, Paul hitched up the boat, loaded Austin, Gabby, and often their friends, and headed to Jim and Sherri’s on Lake Keesus. Austin and Gabby will always cherish the memories they made while water skiing, tubing, and spending time with their dad.

Paul also treasured the lifelong friendships he shared with Kenny Kaestner and Andy Weis, along with the many friends and family members who meant so much to him.

Growing up in the 1970s, Hup’s Pizza was a favorite in the Rovge household. Decades later, Paul continued the tradition by often picking up Hup’s and heading to Jeff and Judy’s, where the pizza was always good, but the drinks, laughs, and time spent together were even better.

Paul retired on April 3, 2026, looking forward to a new chapter filled with more time for the people and activities he loved most. But just three days later, he received the devastating diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma, an aggressive bile duct cancer, forever changing the lives of Paul and his family.

Paul faced the disease with determination, pursuing every treatment available in the hope of spending more time with his family. When treatment could no longer help, he spent his final days at home surrounded by those he loved most. He passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2026, with Jeni, Austin, Gabby, and Kepler by his side.

Paul is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jeni; his children, Austin and Gabby; Gabby’s fiancé, Kurtis; his sisters, Judy (Jeff) and Mary (Dave); his niece, Dana (Jason); along with many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Visitation from 4:30 PM – 6:15 PM. Service at 6:30 PM.

Paul was a very good friend and would always be there for anyone who needed him. Paul was committed to everything he did 100 percent at home, work or play. I have so many memories that I will always cherish and was looking forward to making many more. I will miss paul pulling up in his boat, stopping by for our bonfires and his delicious fresh salsa. I was honored to be welcomed by his family to share his last few months with him..and will never forget hearing my last "goodbye Jimmy" as I left. Sherri and I will remember the time spent with Paul forever.

Paul, I’m so grateful we chose each other all those years ago. Thank you for the life we shared, for the beautiful children we created together, and for the many memories our family will always carry with us. These last few months were the hardest of our lives. Please know that it was my absolute honor to be there with you and care for you. May God bless you tenfold and grant you the peace you so deserve. I will always love you.
