Nunez C. Tatum, a veteran of Desert Storm and longtime resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on January 26, 2025 surrounded by family after a battle with Leukemia.
Nunez was born on January 19, 1970 to parents DeWitt & Cleaster (Highsmith) Tatum and attended Madison High School (1988) before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corp. While Nunez was stationed in Saudi Arabia he wrote incredible letters home to his future wife, Stacy Schwartz, with amazing stories of his time there, drawing cartoons in the margins.
Nunez met his wife Stacy in Milwaukee on Halloween weekend in 1991. They were married on February 10, 1999. Nunez & Stacy have one child together, Samantha. Nunez was an incredible father – above all else, this was his greatest achievement.
For the past 19 years Nunez worked as an electronics technician at Trescal, where he formed wonderful, lifelong friendships. He was a hard worker, loved staying busy, and was opinionated about almost everything. He loved spending time with his family, including concerts, sporting events or just spending time together at home – family was everything to him.
He was a true Wisconsin sports fan, always watching the Packers, Bucks & Brewers, and he usually thought he had better ideas for the team than the coach. When Samantha was younger, he enjoyed spending his weekends at her volleyball & basketball games, and he also coached her summer Little League team for many seasons. He found joy in the simple things in life, teaching himself to play the piano, good music, golfing and a strong cup of coffee.
Nunez will be deeply missed by his family & friends. He is survived by his partner Stacy, daughter Samantha & her partner Shawn Moore, Jr., brother Premier, sisters Lauronda Jones, Janet Lewis, Valerie (Lonnie) Harger. Also survived by cherished nieces & nephews – Breonna Tatum, Brian Lewis, Jason Lewis, Jedediah Jones, Jonas Harger, Kyle Tatum, Mondamin Jones, Nay Jones, Phillip Jones Jr, and Shalisa Harger – along with great-nieces & nephews, extended family and friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents DeWitt & Cleaster (Highsmith).
The family would like to thank the Center for Advanced Care at Froedtert Hospital for their kindness and the care he received there.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM,with a service at 5:00 PM & dinner to follow.
