Norma L. Goodden-Budzien

Norma L. Goodden-Budzien of Gainesville, Florida passed away on May 24, 2024.

She was born September 20, 1922, in Springfield, Illinois to J. Henry and Ethel Ryan Hamrick. She married Royal G. Goodden in 1942 in Springfield, Illinois. They had five sons and one daughter together, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roy passed away after 38 years of marriage. Norma then remarried Milton A. Budzien in 1983, who passed after 25 years of marriage.

Norma is survived by one sister, nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family, and friends. Norma is also being remembered as one of the first two women to ever be elected and sit on the New Berlin Second District of the Common Council for two terms as Alderperson. She also served as Secretary to the Vice Principal of New Berlin High School and became friends with many students and their families. In addition, Norma served as President of the New Berlin Women’s Club and the women’s group of the New Berlin Lion’s Club. After moving to Naples, Florida Norma became president of their women’s organization.

Internment of ashes will be at Holy Apostle Cemetery in New Berlin, Wisconsin with her first husband, Roy.
